Most of you all have seen the news about the distruction in Joplin, MO. Razorback was the manager at the walgreens store when it hit. Through his quick thinking and bravery he got every one into a safe spot and no one was hurt or injured. If you see the pictures of the walgreens you wonder how this is possible. the store is faltened. Great job razorback and our prayers are with all in Joplin and thier families

I haven't seen pictures of the store, but I have seen a bunch of the overall damage. This looks like it was another huge storm and very powerful with many fatalities. Prayers going up for the people of Joplin as they begin to pick up the pieces of their lives today. Aweful that the hospital was damaged to the point of no use, that is one facility that is needed at a time like this.

Great, calm, quick thinking, Adam. My heart and prayers go out to all affected in your town. The word "catastrophe" is overused too many times, but it certainly is appropriate for the devastation in Joplin.
I think this is an arial shot of the Walgreens and Home Depot. Am I correct?

I've lived through one tornado when I was in the 6th grade that nearly destroyed Grand Island, Nebraska in June of 1980. Joplin is only a little bit larger of a city, and it to had large sections completely destroyed. In fact the house I was living in at the time with my family was destroyed and also the house my father was building for us to move into was destroyed, so we ended up moving to another town nearby Omaha, which was closer to family anyway. Even though I was about 12 at the time, and 42 now, its a memory I still have and will always have until I die, and not one I ever want to repeat, ever......
Adam, so glad to know you and your family is ok. My best to you, and everyone as you rebuild!

One cool thing that happened today. I was at work and was told I had a call . When I picked up the person said Mark Wagner wants to speak with you. Wasn't sure who Mark was, but said ok. He wanted me to explain what happened. He called me a hero. We talked for about 5-10min I think. After hanging up, I asked my boss what his role was with the company. He told me he was the number 2 guy of the company, only the CEO was over him. I even got to share with him about the ministry work I had been doing before joining Walgreens. He was also suprised I had only been with the company since Aug. Anyway, thought it was pretty cool the Number 2 guy would call me directly.
Also found out, they plan to start tearing down my old store tomorrow, and plan to have it reopened in 6 months.
Good always prevails! Great job Adam, but you forgot to mention 3DIcon?
In all seriousness, I really feel for all those affected by this tragedy. We had a wall cloud/tornado form right over my house late this morning. It proceeded through the heart of KC, but thankfully it was not that strong of a storm. Kinda freaky after seeing what happened to Joplin.

Glad to hear you're OK! My thoughts and prayers are with ALL of the people affected by these tonadoes. The Joplin was an F5 I heard today, so you are quite lucky to survive!
Our house was struck in 1979. At the time we were building a dome house and living in a trailer next to it. The house was 80% complete, a good thing, because the tornado picked up our trailer (with 4 of us in it), moved it about 50 ft and we landed upside down. I will never forget the sound and experience, I thought we were all goners....we were lucky to escape with minor injuries. The dome house was unscathed, thank God. Long story summed up quickly, but the bottomline is we lived.

It is such a wreck you wonder how it can ever be straightened out. Adam it would be cool if you continued to update this thread with pictures of Joplins 'come-back' as you see reconstruction. http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif
