Question Euro versus US Dollar - Forex Exchange

I wanted to post this into the forex thread (forum) but it say the message was too short etc..!!!!! so I coudn't post it.
this was the info .....
Quote:
LONDON (MarketWatch) -- The dollar slipped to fresh lows against the euro and sterling Wednesday ahead of a sa I try in the Daily T Discus. thread and it was OK it worked..
Federal Reserve decision on interest rates and after data showed European inflation is rising faster than expected.
The euro edged higher, peaking at a new all-time high of $1.4467, while sterling strengthened around 0.2%, hitting $2.0742, its highest level in around 26 years.
Markets are expecting the Fed to cut rates by another quarter point to 4.5%, after it lopped off half a point in September.

I could post it on the DailyT.Discus. thread...

:confused::confused::confused:

If you like a ride with me just say so….. but stop moving my posts around…. (joking of course LOL)

The point wasn’t forex or wolf… I wanted to know the “cause of refusing my post

A little window come up saying;
“the message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters”
As I had +/- 12 lines I couldn’t understand the meaning of that.
Posting it on the DTD tread was no problem…. As it has happened to me before (never told you) I was curious why of that anomaly

Thanks …. Instead to take me for a ride can you please answer that….. :D:D

don't lose any sleep on that!!!! LOLOLOL

Euro hit 1.5010 ... all time high against the dollar I believe?

I have a question that maybe someone with a greater understanding of currency can answer... I live in Spain currently and we use the Euro here. I have lived in the US for 99.9% of my life, as I just recently moved here.

Although the dollar is down against the Euro, why is it that the dollar can buy SO MUCH MORE back in the states? You might be wondering what I'm talking about, so let me try to explain...

Here in Spain an XBOX 360 might cost 450 Euro (I don't really know, just using this price for sake of example). In the US though, you can buy one for $400. Not only is it a lower cost if you look strictly at the numbers, but if you factor the conversion in - it's much cheaper to buy with US dollars!!

I have my own theories for why this is, but I'd really love to know why the US dollar can buy much more when spent at home

Thanks ~

p.s. I'm going short, limit at 1.4450 ... Expecting the Euro to fall back down against the dollar. But I'm just using a practice account so no real risk here. I love the FOREX market though, in just 2 days I've made $500!

The EURO hit 1.45 today against the US Dollar...1.50 is not far off.

To your question--since local pricing is often gauged by supply and availalability and any additional costs/taxes on imports of a product or good..my guess would be it has to do with that. The US has always had excess in terms of supply for many goods and our importing is very cost structured...additionally the free enterprise often makes pricing competative which I am sure you know. But since I don't live in spain or am familiar with their export/import costs and goods or sales market structure, so I can only guess that is why...

FWIW, $400.00 USD converts to about $276.00 Euro's at current rates..exchanging Euro's for USD is a steal for using Euro's towards getting a lot of US currency buying power for travel in the US...but converting from USDollars to get Euro's is awfully expensive for Americans going to Europe....

I would agree to be prepared to short the EUR/USD off its 1.45 highs--the US NFP report due out Friday could cause a brief retrace correction. Congrats on you wins in Forex so far--let us know if we can help further...

clearly you had more than 10 characters and i just did a test thread with numbers 1-10 and thread posted fine so maybe it was a one time glitch?? also - changing your title to Euro versus US Dollar b/c looks like this may be appropriate title, but if not then maybe wolf can come up with one or you can let someone know what you wanna call it

Hello Fireopal
You quote “maybe it was a onetime glitch??” ok I take that

I don’t know if the title it is “convenient” because this was more a site/PC “glitch” problem

Shame that “runner” posted in here otherwise I would suggest to delete it…
Can you move posts? If so, move them to forex questions, seen that FXW answer…) otherwise let it be

Btw how come you do all the work??..... Are the “cats” busy chasing mouse :D:D (oops I couldn’t resist that LOL)

I could totally be wrong (and probably am lol), but it looks like a somewhat large shift is in the process, and some good money could be made.

EUR/USD hit 1.4412 last I checked, and it looks like it might keep going down. I'm new to this but, there's a support at 1.4382 right? Falls lower than that and it should keep dropping?

Made some good money last night on a short, but sorta indecisive right now. Might short again and limit at 1.4382 :D

edit: good rundown of how the economy is doing, and what it means for the dollar: http://www.dailyfx.com/story/tophead...033 7876.html

honestly its so hard to decide where the economy is going based on news articles. You read something like I linked above ^^ and you think "hmm... looks like the economy is doing well and the dollar could start improving"

then you visit news.google.com and 9/10 stories involve declining jobs, airlines increasing prices, marijuana scandals, lawsuits and slumped car sales. I know that, "there's no news like bad news" or whatever drives media profits... but it also makes it hard to decide whats what o_O

The EUR is set-up for a nice pullback. I understand many europeans are complaining about the price of the Euro. I also read an article that many institutions in europe would like to see a decline in the euro.

Yes greencat, I confirm that….
Over here quite few Industrials are putting pressure on the Gov. to bring the € down…
Friday night on a TV economic program they were saying that the €$ should be 1.30 first, then 1.20 at least..
(there was the ex Finance Minister, some industrialist and an Economy Professor …. for once they made sense to
what they were saying…LOL)

I doubt if we see those figure in the near future, (never say never...remember when the € was under the $?)
but in Europe there is a strong cry to get the € weaker

Please note that although I follow the $ € £ (for trading and got some business with the UK) I am not a Forex expert….. so DYOR and DD
