I cut my # of stocks held way back today. I had too many anyway. I had so many that some days I would forget to see what a couple of them were doing.
This one looks like a keeper

Another good day overall I'm just wishing I had moved on this a couple of days ago.
After hours news so tomorrow should be interesting. I really think the play is for real and one of a few that I will tuck away and wait for news. Do a quick google search for the company or their key to success Oxycyte and I think you will be impressed with the attention this company has received. Also keep in mind they are tied to Virginia Commonwealth University and are researching Synthetic blood that will improve life or even save the life of thousands of people each year. |

Behold Oxycyte: an artificial blood compound that carries roughly up to 50 times more oxygen than regular blood. It is a promising temporary blood substitute, and not purely as a replacement for blood, that is being used in rehabilitation treatments for brain trauma injuries.
As profiled in Popular Science, Oxycyte is composed of perfluorocarbons, or PFCs, which closely resemble Teflon and have a high capacity to hold, dissolve and release gas like the hemoglobin in red blood cells. They are smaller than RBCs, which make them VERY useful in delivering oxygen through blood vessels so constricted by swollen tissue that RBCs cannot pass through. See the attached diagram from PopSci.
Of course, nothing can still replace the real red deal. Normal human blood does more than carry oxygen: they carry nutrients, regulate blood pressure, fight infection, heal wounds, and so forth. The "blood substitutes" developed and being developed today can only carry oxygen - although they're d**n good at it. Which is why they're being used as "oxygen therapeutics" rather than as "blood substitutes," to help increase the supply of oxygen to damaged tissues, such as the human brain. It is this quality of Oxycyte that's attracting the attention of trauma centers and practitioners, as well as the military. There are very few treatments for brain trauma injuries - from a bullet in the head to your skull bashed in - and Oxycyte is being used in preliminary, experimental treatments for accident victims. The military is also interested in using it to help with the recovery of combat brain trauma casualties. The researchers behind Oxycyte are pushing for the FDA to begin clinical trials.
Oxycyte still can't be used as a blood substitute, unlike hemoglobin-based artificial blood/oxygen therapeutics, because PFCs require air with 50%-100% oxygen content. Normal air only has 21%. And breathing too much pure oxygen for too long has been known to cause damage to tissues and membranes.
