| | ZMTP - Zoom Telephonics, Inc. (OTCBB Stock)
Just saw this stock and decided to throw it on here for people to radar. Today (OCT. 07) was the first day for ZMTP to trade and it opened @ .06. After several spikes and falls it closed up 3100% to close @ 1.60.
I decided to put it in the penny section since it was all over the map but after it trades a few days we can put it wherever it needs to be.
A few things make this very interesting.
1. The float is only a measely 1,978,478 shares. (Yes that figure is correct) which explains the 3100% on only 125k shares traded.
2. The stock was actually planned to start trading Friday Oct. 9 so most people are not even aware it is trading. 3. This company was spun off from Zoom technologies which has been approved for trading on the Nasdaq and is currently sitting @ 6.83 but has a high of 14.20 in the past year.
I'm not in but will be watching close after the morning gap up.

Zoom Telephonics Receives Payment in Connection With Telesphere's Purchase of UnityFont size:
3:02 PM ET 10/8/09 | Market Wire
Zoom Telephonics, Inc. (OTCBB: ZMTP) announced that it has received a cash payment of $766,950 in connection with Telesphere's purchase of the VoIP services business of Unity Business Networks. Zoom may receive up to an additional $193,050, for a total of $960,000, in payments over the next 24 months, depending on whether any of this additional money is held back consistent with the terms of the purchase agreement between Unity and Telesphere.
Zoom's investment was originally booked in 2007 as $1,178,709, which included Zoom's attorney fees involved in closing the investment. The investment was written down to $960,000 as of December 31, 2008.
"Telesphere has purchased a valuable asset, and we wish the principals and personnel of Unity and Telesphere the best as they go forward together," said Frank Manning, Zoom's President and CEO.

Zoom(R) Begins Volume Shipments of 3G Wireless-N Travel RouterFont size:
3:26 PM ET 10/8/09 | Market Wire
Zoom Telephonics, Inc. (OTCBB: ZMTP) announced today the first volume shipments of the Zoom 3G Wireless-N Travel Router, Model 4506. Almost any 3G mobile broadband modem can be plugged into the router to instantly create a WiFi(R) compatible Hotspot for a wide range of devices including Windows(R) and Macintosh(R) computers, the iTouch(TM) and Blackberry(R), mobile phones, barcode readers, and game stations. The shirt-pocket-sized router operates on either its rechargeable batteries or its AC adapter.
Model 4506 has an estimated U.S. retail of $99 and represents a significant new price point for 3G wireless-N travel routers.
The Travel Router provides easy sharing of a 3G connection anywhere a 3G mobile broadband modem works -- office, home, work site, trade show, airport, hotel, park, beach, or almost anywhere. The Travel Router connects to the Internet through a plug-in 3G USB modem, and provides Internet access for up to 253 devices simultaneously through the Router's wireless n/g/b network or a wired Ethernet connection.
Zoom's Travel Router even lets a user's WiFi compatible devices go where 3G signal strength is low. A user can put the Travel Router and 3G modem where 3G signal strength is high, and then connect to WiFi compatible devices through the router's extended-range wireless-N capability.
Model 4506 is compatible with almost every USB mobile broadband modem model ever built. A modem compatibility list is at Zoom Telephonics: Router 3G USB modems compatible with Model 4506 Travel Router
When powered by its built-in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, the Travel Router lets a user stay on-line for 3 hours or more, depending on usage. Model 4506 also works and recharges when its small power cube is plugged into a power outlet.
The Travel Router can even be used as a router for DSL and Cable modems, with automatic broadband backup if a 3G USB modem is plugged in.
For additional information about Zoom's Model 4506 Travel Router, product images, and information about other Zoom mobile broadband products, please see: Zoom Telephonics: 3G Mobile Broadband Modems and Routers.

Guys, I missed all the action today. Had to take the wife back to get her stiches out so was gone most of the day. I'm averaged just above Razor @ about 3.05 but feel pretty good about it. In fact I would love to see them drop it hard and give me a chance to pick up some for 1.00
This may be wishful thinking but I'm really liking this stock and think we could have a shot at a huge move. I really think over a few days we could see 8.00 - 10.00. Again that price is just out of the air but think about a couple of things and tell me if I'm missing it. 1. SUPER LOW FLOAT of less than 2 million shares so as shares are traded there will be new longs and new support levels hopefully higher and higher.
2. This is not your typical spin off from some fly by night pink or otcbb traded stock. ZOOM is a Nasdaq stock and closed today @ 7.72. (IMO) they are not going to throw out a con game and risk their reputation.
3. The market cap at this point is only around six million. Now that market cap is EXTREMELY LOW considering they expect revenue to hit between 145 million and 155 million for 2009 with net revenue coming in around 6 million. I'm digging for info but according to a post on another board their competitors have market caps of up to 300 million. So being on the conservative side using a market cap of 10% of the competitors would give us a 30 million cap which would translate into 15.00 per share. We have a shot to make a VRMLQ type of move.
4. The Chinese mobile phone market is massive. China has a population of roughly 3 billion compared to the United States at just over 300 million.
Hang tough and as word spreads we will reap the rewards. Who knows this may actually end up being a company that really makes the move to the big boards.

I like your projections Jason.lol
You also have to wonder how many investors will be checking in for the first time tomorrow since that is when they thought it would start trading.

I have already read a couple of post from ticked off people who thought tomorrow was the day so as you said if there is one there has to be more.
One thing to remember.... This can't turn out as bad as the stock that will remain nameless........ |

Decided to do some of my own dd. Most of this information has been taken off the 10-12G/A filing done by Zoom Technologies, for the coming(now realized) Zoom Telephonics. After reading through this filing, things are now making sense to me.
First off, Zoom Telephonics will take over all the communications businesses of Zoom Technologies. The reason for this is that Zoom Technologies bought a company "The Golden Lion". It was a Chinese based company. From what i've read, its business is different from what Zoom Tech, had been doing. So instead of having two different companies under the same umbrella, they spun-off the old business into Zoom Telephonics. In reading thru the financials of Zoom Technologies(which is now under Zoom Telephonics) I found these numbers.
For fiscal year 2008 the numbers looked like this
Revenue $14,458,803
COGS $11,467,187
Gross Profit $2,991,616
Operating profit(loss) ($3,600,943)
Total other Income(loss) net ($545,792)
Income(loss) before taxes ($4,146,735)
Income taxes(benefit) $12,919
Net Income(loss) ($4,159,654)
Those numbers are not great as you can see. Though there is Revenue coming in, the COGS is pretty high, and then the rest of profits eaten up by salaries and other business expenses. What I do like is the balance sheet
Total Current Assests $5,505,312
Total Assests $6,567,803
Total Liabilities $1,610,477 Total Stockholder's Equity $4,957,326
This shows that the stockholders do have some value. As of 2008, it was about $2.50 per share. Not bad. So if they can get the business back on track, this could really have some value. I think what has caused most of the losses is the company slowly changing over from Dial up Modems and getting more into Dsl, cable, and now wireless modems. I think this leads to much better potential for the company. Next let me show you some of the numbers for the first 6 months of 2009
Revenue 5,414,282
COGS 3,937,554
Gross Profit 1,476,728
Operating (loss) (1,366,493)
Total other income 37,819
Income(loss) before tax (1,328,674)
Income taxes(benefit) 295
Net Income(loss) (1,328,969)
One thing I'd like to point out is the COGS.. based on the percentage of revenue, it has gotten better since 2008. for 2008, COGS was 79.2% of revenue. So far in 2009, it is only 72.7% of revenue. Now on to the balance sheet For the first 6 months of 2009,
Total assests 5,416,252
Total Liabilities 1,559,343 total shareholder equity $3,856,909. Which is still nearly $2.00 per share.
Well this is a lot of info to absorb. I will stop for now.
