Default FRPT - Force Protection

I was very disappointed with the tankage @ EOD on Friday. Seems to do that a lot.
A friend said he saw a segment on tv about the MRAPs and said they talked about FRPT. It was maybe a week or so ago. Anyone happen to see that? Just curious if it was in a good light or what? My buddy said he wasn't really paying attention but, caught the name when mentioned since I had talked about it.

Yah, it sure did tank on Friday. I can't quite figure out how to play this one, it seems to go up and down in huge jumps. If you can get in and out at the right times, you can make some decent money. The other option is to just hold this for a while. Especially with their new build facilities opening up soon, they should be able to keep up production and get more orders.

Great to hear that they are getting TV time, they have been one of my favorite stocks since $2.63

Woohoo...an FRPT thread! This has been one of the wildest swinging stocks on the market....and there seems to be a lot of people taking advantage of that. However, I do see this stock as going to MUCH higher levels over the next year or two. You just have to hang on thru the wild swings.

MACD is turning up and crossing into positive now and the 21d CMF is still trending up which I like as it is less of a trailing indicator than some others.
while FRPT needs orders to drive the PPS, they are definatly getting the attention...

Test Drive BoostsU.S. Marines’ Interest In Cheetah Vehicle

from the article:
Quote:
The Corps’ interest in the V-hulled, raised-chassis vehicle intensified after U.S. Marine Corps Commandant Gen. James Conway test-drove a prototype Cheetah at Force Protection’s plant in Ladson, S.C., June 9.
The Cheetah would function as a smaller, more mobile version of the 16-ton Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles the U.S. military is beginning to buy.
“I’m excited about the latest addition to Force Protection’s family of MRAP Vehicles, the Cheetah,” Conway told the Marine Corps News, an internal publication of the Marine Corps, after the visit.
“If it proves itself through further testing, the Cheetah will offer the same survivability rates as its predecessors, but it’s also designed to be relevant beyond Iraq. The Cheetah will be easier to rapidly deploy, as it will be much more compatible with air and sea transport than larger MRAP vehicles currently in production,” he said.
I also saw this scheduled today

Quote:
Force Protection Industries, Inc. has been notified that Fox News Channel has, subject to scheduling changes, slated a feature on the company and its newest vehicle series, Cheetah, to air during the Special Report with Brit Hume program this evening. The broadcast airs from approximately 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Eastern Daylight Time.

Went home early today to watch my daughter, while I was booting up my pc I tunned on Fox news to hear that there was an investigation done to look into how the military awarded contracts to FRPT and others since 2003. Report indicated no competition was involved, missed deadlines and delays have resulted in delays in getting armored Humvee's to troops in Iraq. Not good press for FRPT.

Investigation by whom? Well, somebody is always investigating military contracts because somebody is always crying because they didn't get one. Nonetheless, people will see this as negative and the stock will once again take a beating....arrrrggggg....1 step forward and 3 steps back. Guess I'll be holding this stock for a year or two at this pace.

From what I gathered it was either someone in the Pentagon or in the Marines that was asked to look into how these contracts were awarded and they issued a statement about thier findings today. Maybe the Fox web site will have something with more details. this was a quick news report.

Ahhh....this is such BS! I really hate politics...

http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2007Jul...Delays,00.html

FRPT was selected because they had the best product. Somebody is just stirring the pot for political gain or advantage.
