NEW YORK, July 27 (Reuters) - Chevron Corp (CVX.N: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Friday its second-quarter earnings rose due to higher profits from its refineries and the absence of year-earlier charges.

Net income in the quarter increased to $5.38 billion, or $2.52 a share, from $4.35 billion, or $1.97 a share, last year.

Integrated oil companies that both produce and refine oil and gas were expected to have yet another in a series of stellar quarters as soaring refining margins picked up the slack for a year over year drop in oil prices.

Since the beginning of the year, Chevron's shares are up about 19 percent, outperforming the Chicago Board Options Exchange's oil index (.OIX: Quote, Profile, Research), which rose over 17 percent in the same period. (Reporting by Michael Erman)

Stock beat down a bit yesterday by bears. I'm putting a buy order in for the opening bell.....THIS STOCK IS GOING TO GO UP TODAY....hopefully by a few dollars. My hot tip for the day! As usual, do your own DD and GOOD LUCK!

So much for that, bears tore this one down 1.6% already....on positive financial news on a stock that was already down. Never underestimate the power of the bear...jez. Guess I have another hold in my portfolio....dang...almost all my cash is now tied up...no new fun flipping until this bear dies.

Dang, finished down 3% for the day. Lots of profit taking after the big rise, surprized they didn't hold for the huge divy coming.

Bunch of upgrades released this morning.....everyone is waking up to EMC...play the momo baby and make some green! :D

I made some money on EMC. They are the parent company of VMW. Nice stock with a $29 target.

Also if anyone cares CSCO bought $150 million in VMW stock at $25 a share before the IPO came out and they will be doing deals with one another.

Also Intel bought about 1.6% of the total outstanding shares of VMW themselves.

So CSCO's share value has gone up over $700 million with the shares they hold in VMW and Intels value increases the same.
