Re: LVLT - Level 3 Communications Inc
Sure has been hammered down, because their financials suck. They have very heavy debt. From a TA standpoint, looks like the bottom is yet to come, but it might be a nice play if you time your buy right. However, I don't think it will any sort of "big come back" anytime soon. I'd say time it right and then sell after just about any gain.

My GF's dad got into this a few months ago cause someone told him about it at work and did no research.. I told him he should think about FRPT instead.. As soon as he got in he has seen nothing but red and we know how FRPT went.. Should have listened to the young guy :D

Re: LVLT - Level 3 Communications Inc
Level 3 owns a lot of the major backbones for the internet in the US and are a huge provider to other telco's/isp's. I think they can turn it around. It's just a question of when.
*edit
If I remember correctly, a majority of their debt came from the .com bust when they bought up a lot of fiber from companies going under. Hense why they own much of the US backbone.

Re: LVLT - Level 3 Communications Inc
i too was recommended this company by a friend at work. i basically threw it on my watchlist.
this company is sure to bounce back, read about it on wikapedia. they're sitting on a lot of dark fiber, which is basically unused fiber optics. more cool things to read about the company on there, check it out
i still like this company and have planned on doing some trades with it because of it's activity. the bottom price should soon be right, an easy play imo.

Re: LVLT - Level 3 Communications Inc
The 3 month chart seems to indicate we will see a further downward trend. Watch for the bottom, this will be a good play once it's hit.

Re: LVLT - Level 3 Communications Inc
I just read a little that some of the big boys of this company left just before the end of the quarter.. Its getting bad reviews by almost everyone and is gonna have to really fight to get back to where it needs to be $6 range. I'm not gonna even think about playing this untill I see $1.99. But at that point if they get everything straightened out it'll be an awesome play and worth hanging onto for a year to keep the tax man out of my pocket

Charts still look pretty good at this point. Saw this in an article on Friday:
WHILE SHARES OF LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS languishing near lows, two directors have snapped up more than one million shares of the telecommunications and information-services company.
On Thursday, director Douglas Eby purchased 1,005,000 shares totaling $3 million, or an average of $3 a share, through a limited partnership. He continues to hold 4,397,200 shares indirectly through the limited partnership and a limited liability company. He owns 39,644 shares directly.
A day earlier, director Michael Mahoney bought 30,000 shares for $92,700, or $3.09 apiece. He continues to hold 89,644 shares of the Broomfield, Co.-based company.
