Default Those "mystery" smilies

I'm happy that we have so many new fun smiles, but I'd like to make a suggestion:

Could the "shorthand" be easier to remember?
I'm having a hard time remembering which symbols correspond to which 'smily'

The are pretty standard, so I think most people know the shorthand by heart.
But how about giving some of the others actual names/words that would be easy to remember?
Here are some suggestions:

|-I zzz
mad
???
pray
cheer
wave
cheers

And so on... you get the idea.
TIA for considering this suggestion.

i tried to made them easier and crashed the system. certain combinations of letters and symbols do certain things. if we do just letters like every time someone typed that word it would be replaced with that smiley and we dont want that. we want it set up so you decide if word or smiley and if we use a symbol every time someone typed that symbol it was replaced with that smiley. that is why it is set up the way it is. i know that is not the answer you wanted but i hope it explained why things are the way they are

You have to be a little careful with those Ciao. We don't want people using them accidentily in a post.....that's why they're coded a little odd, to prevent an accident.

Catfish:

In my experience, you need to put the words between colon marks - just like you see in the Laughing Out Loud smilie or the dancing banana smilie. For example  or :cheer: or
If you look at the existing smilies that do have words as shorthands, you'll see that they're ALL between colon marks.

That is how every other bulletin board of this type works. So, unless for some reason this one is very different, that should work here too. The word must be between colon marks.
For example, if for the cheerleader smilie you assign :cheer: , when members want to use that smilie, all they have to do is type :cheer:

Easy to remember short word. Makes sense?

No need to memorize abstract symbols.

zoom me fireopal coming at you.... just so you know - many of the boards i researched before installing smilies all have codes and i also saw words on some of em too, which i assumed was done when they ran out of codes but that wasn't the case for me b/c i located some codes for many up here and for the ones i couldn't locate codes for i just made em up as i went along didn't even stop to think that folks would actually be trying to memorize the codes and thought all would just either click on smilie they wanted or copy and paste the code.. maybe one of these days someone will get around to redoing words for all of the smilies i have put up here but my main objective was giving all what they wanted which was a nice selection of smilies... and i have just added a few more a few days ago and more will probably be coming so that is gonna be a good job for someone and it's not gonna be me anytime soon.. although, i will try to be more conscious of your request when adding more and may even get around to changing some of the codes when i do add or replace some in the future, ok

here is an example of some of the codes i grabbed out on line but don't think i used this one b/c there was another one bookmark ahead of it but may have to cross compare at some point to see if they are similar and/or if any that i made up are on this list b/c this one looks much more extensive than other one lol http://www.helpbytes.co.uk/smileys.php

after some testing and looking around if we change the codes now it will effect every post that used them. so we are going to leave them how they are.
