Short Selling Thread

The Dow just smashed through 9,000 today and looks like the S&P500 is dealing with 975/976 as I type.

I think there will be some resistance on the S&P at 1000 which may be tested next week and then every 50 points from there.

Anyhow, I am all long right now but the same money is made whether short or long. It is nice to hedge against a sudden drop. Even if the Dow shot straight up to 10,000 there will still be plenty of stocks that crash along the way.

I'm looking for a few that are way overbought as the market continues to climb. Just some quick in and outs, shorting over a couple days.

If I find something I'll post it and anyone else out there feel welcome to do the same!

I've been watching XIDE the last week or so and it has gone up dramatically in a short period of time. It opened the week at $5.58, low of the week $5.32, closed the week $7.65 after going up 21.24% today on an upgrade. Today's high was $7.75 and I started a short position at $7.71. After hours low so far is $7.55.

I am going to hope that Monday XIDE starts the morning off with some profit takers where I'll get rid of my shares for a profit of 20 cents/share or more.

XIDE started off the day slightly lower, then picked up some steam and plowed to the HOD early on at $7.98 (+33 cents from a $7.65 close).....It gave all those gains back and has been trading negative since 9:45am.....So far the LOD is $7.20 and the last trade went through at $7.30....This is looking like an easy cover in the $6s.....

Covered XIDE in the low $7.30s. 40 cents or a 5% profit from my $7.71 entry.

How about the SKF on financials..they seem to have gone too high too fast.

Added to my position by 200% today at $5.70. Looking at all the stocks out there right now, this has to be one of the safest, easiest trades in the entire market, from New York to London. While the Dow is making new highs crossing 10,200 CROX is making new day lows. Last $5.56, hoping for a close under $5.50...

DAN looks real toppy. Unfortunately I seen DAN between $7.15 and $7.19 today (as seen in screenshot) but wasn't able to get filled (short). Placed order to short at $7.15 and it dropped below $7.10...placed order to short at $7.05 and it dropped below $7......I'm not touching my order any more and last trade was $6.91....Would have been sweet if I got filled at $7.15....DAN should at minimum drop to $6.50
