Default How to screen stocks?

I want to start picking my own stocks etc. Do you guys know how the pros do it? I guess first I need to screen the stock first and then move on from there. I have a general understanding of stocks but I need practice picking stocks/screen them. Please advise.

Thanks!

This should get you started reading:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=screen+stocks

Personally, I just do a lot of reading....news, forums, financial websites, etc. Once I have a candidate, I do specific company DD. I'm more a fundamental than a technical trader, so I guess it also depends on your goals/technique.

Finding out how to make money with stock trading isn’t just a matter of typing “stock trading system” into Google, crossing your fingers and hoping for the best, however. Getting the best results out of your search for a stock trading system requires diligence and research on your part. Pay attention to the market and keep an eye on it at all times. Investigate carefully before investing. Lastly, be wise. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Be wise and spread your investments over a rather broad base and make different kinds of investments

I am learning how to do technical analysis on stocks. Im not having a problem learning chart patterns and finding break out points, however, I was wondering if anyone had tips for screening for stocks that may have patterns forming. I have been basically blindly going through hundreds of stocks looking at their chart and either moving on or looking deeper.
