Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. is a holding company. Through its subsidiaries, the Company is engaged primarily in the ocean transportation of a range of major and minor bulk cargoes, including iron ore, coal, grain, cement and fertilizer, along worldwide shipping routes. As of December 31, 2006, Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. owned and operated a fleet of 16 oceangoing vessels with a combined carrying capacity of 796,663 deadweight tons. The Company carries out the commercial management of its fleet through its wholly owned subsidiary, Eagle Shipping International (USA) LLC. Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. expanded its fleet from 13 vessels to 16 vessels by acquiring the KESTREL I, TERN and JAEGER in June and July 2006, respectively.

Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. (Nasdaq:EGLE) today announced that its Board of Directors has declared a cash dividend on its common stock for the second quarter of 2007 of $0.47 per share, payable on or about August 7th, 2007, to all shareholders of record as of August 1st, 2007.

For the remainder of the 2007 fiscal year, the Company's expected dividend calendar is October 2007 and February 2008.

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc., the New York ocean-transport firm, said on Wednesday that it agreed to acquire a fleet of 26 Supramax vessels for $1.1 billion from the parent of Anemi Maritime Services, a closely held Greek shipping company. The value of the ships' current contracts is at least $1 billion, Eagle said. The ships are to be delivered from 2008 through 2012. Subject to completion of documentation and other conditions, Eagle hopes to close the deal in the third quarter.
