GeoVax Inc. HIV/AIDS [HIV-1] Vaccines, initially developed by Dr. Harriet Robinson [GeoVax Scientific Advisory Board Chairperson] at Emory University in collaboration with researchers at the NIAID (NIH), and the USA Centers for Disease Control (CDC), are recombinant DNA and MVA vaccines. Our focus is on developing AIDS vaccines comprising each of the major HIV-1 subtypes (A, B and C). These vaccines will be able to be used alone or as combinations depending on a local infection. Subtype B is most common in North America, the EU, Japan and Australia and is our first priority.

When administered in series, these AIDS vaccines induce strong cellular and humoral immunity [protection] in nonhuman primates against multiple HIV-1 proteins [AIDS virus components]. This suggests that GeoVax's vaccines will provide protection against the development of AIDS in HIV-1 virus infected people.

GeoVax Labs Inc. has inked a $10 million common stock purchase agreement with Chicago-based Fusion Capital Fund II LLC.

"This agreement will help us continue to move forward with our AIDS vaccine development efforts," said Robert T. McNally, GeoVax president and CEO. "Combined with the five- year, $15 million federal grant GeoVax was awarded last year and the direct support we expect to receive through the HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) conducting our upcoming Phase 2 clinical trial, we believe we are well- positioned to achieve several important milestones in the development of our vaccine."

The Atlanta-based HIV/AIDS vaccine developer (OTC BB: GOVX) said it may sell up to $10 million of its common stock to Fusion Capital from time to time over a 25-month period after the Securities and Exchange Commission approves the deal.
