Premarket
Hi! I have a question. When we receive a stock alert, most of the time if you want to buy that stock, you would have to do so in the premarket because at the opening, the price is already too high. Can you buy during premarket hours with an online broker like Questrade, what are the risks and is it a good strategy.
Thank you very much!

Re: Premarket
Pre-market trading is very expensive and involved, it's not for the average investor. Call your broker and ask them about it and you'll see.

Re: Premarket
Hmmm. Just wait for it for the market open. there is not much liquidity in shares in the pre-market.

Re: Premarket
Let say the stock price is $5.00, 5 minutes before the opening of the market, the price indicates $6.85, I can't buy it at $5.00 of course but I'm not sure I understand the principle of liquidity in shares, can you help me with this! Thank you very much!

Re: Premarket
The market usually trades at a different price in pre-market actually. Honestly, in pre market, you place pre-market orders and wishing you get matched. If you posted 5usd but the offer is 6.85, it won't be matched at all though.

Re: Premarket
Theoretically , yes since we assume that liquidity in the aftermarket hours is as best, spotty.

Re: Premarket
It’s a horrible strategy to be honest. The reason I say that is because the people who are issuing these “stock alert” emails are doing so to millions of people and they are already in their position. If just some of those people buy the stock goes up and the spammer makes a bit of cash. You don’t want to be one of those guys making the spammer more wealthy and its not a good way to trade. What if one day you stopped getting spam? LOL
