Default Yield.....I love it!

Just did a calculation on my dividend yields over the last year. I averaged 6.8% return! I love dividends!

I'm with you there thad. Most of the stocks I own, esp in my long term retirement holdings, pay dividends. I automatically reinvest in those, and I love it when the divy pays out while the market is down. :D More share for me!

I don't auto reinvest but I sometimes manually add shares. Most of the time I use the extra $$$ as cash for whatever in my account.

I should add, my true yield on divy stocks is much higher. To arrive at my number I simply totaled my dividends for the past year and divided by my current total account value which includes cash and non-paying divy stocks.

What I like about these dividend stocks is should they go down, you can continue to hold them until they go back up. But while holding them, you also are collecting a nice return.

Exactly! It's worked for me for many years. I've sometimes pared my positions like in 2008, but I rebought at the lows....which really helps my yields.
