AUY - Yamana Gold Inc. NYSE Stock

Griz suggested this stock to me, the PPS has been way down due to the drop in gold prices. Gold seems to have bottomed so now we're seeing the spot price regain strenght, this is bringing AUY up.

That is the magical question...... I think another few days of panic and uncertainty with the Fannie and Freddy bailout will continue to push the market and this stock down. People are panicking.... (Reminds me of the Eddie Murphy talking about people panicking at Christmas time because parents want to buy the GI JOE with the Kung Fu Grip... (from the movie Trading Places))...

Gold set an 11 month low today....my fav gold stocks are beat-up horribly. THIS IS THE TIME TO BUY ANYTHING GOLD. Take your pick, ETF, miner or whatever.....gold will come back just like a stock.

This has got to be the bottom! This slide has just blown my mind, I never thought we'd see these levels EVER again. I'm going to liquidate a bunch of my stocks soon and go heavy into gold. The track record of gold is just too good, it simply can't go much lower than the $760 level we're seeing today.

AUY is my only GOLD play. And it is definitely a buy. I never add to it until there is, well not to be cliche, but blood in the streets. And I never try to call the top on my GOLD play. I'll take the first 15% profit I get! I have learned the hard way, when GOLD falls, it falls fast.

BOSTON (MarketWatch) -- Chris Armbruster, senior research analyst for Al Frank Asset Management in Laguna Beach, Calif., says that the short-term direction of the market is hard to determine but that long-term investors should "go shopping when things are on sale," adding that they will find a lot of bargains right now that are likely to pay off within the next five years.

In an audio interview with Chuck Jaffe, MarketWatch senior columnist, Armbruster put buy recommendations on Citizens Republic Bancorp, Annaly Capital Management and NorthStar Realty Finance in the financial-services sector. SunTrust Banks earns a hold because the long-term prospects are solid but the current value is not yet ideal.

He liked Chevron and Chesapeake Energy in the energy space, but put a sell on Petrohawk Energy.

Showing that there is value across sectors, Armbruster had several industries where he separated buys from holds, noting that Yamana Gold is a buy but Kinross Gold is a hold, or that Mosaic is a buy while Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan is a hold.

In industrial materials, Sun Hydraulics was a hold but Terex and Titanium Metals are buys, Armbruster said.

I still believe it's a solid long play. Inflation is going to strike us as the next problem, there's no doubt in my mind. For the technical trader gold should be an easy mark.

Just received an alert from Morningstar on this, it is now rated at 5 stars which simply means it's price is at a certain discount to it's "fair value estimate". Could be a good choice as the inflation concern grows.
