STEM ... StemCells Inc
Looking for an Obama play? I bought in STEM a few days ago just to hold for a little while. I'm betting and some are thinking Obama will lift the executive order banning stem cell research and it could happen pretty quick.
STEM has had a couple of solid green days and it should continue in anticipation of an Obama decision.

Yeah I bought some this morning and will hold for a pop if Obama announces a lift on the ban. Looks like it's going higher today and should continue to climb on speculation if nothing else...

Nice choice (imo). I agree 110%. Specualtion drives the market and its very well known that Obama wants to lift the ban. The only question is how fast it will happen.

Re: STEM ... StemCells Inc
Here is a little interesting article I found.
5 Stocks Approaching Greatness
By Rich Duprey
January 20, 2009 |
Some companies are obviously great investments -- in hindsight. Yet for every stock out there screaming "buy me," others simply give us a nudge and a nod. How can we tell tomorrow's obviously great investments from the thousands of pretenders?
The stars' walk of fame
The data shows that stocks achieving five-star ratings on Motley Fool CAPS have outperformed the market by 12 percentage points on average, and that newly minted five-star stocks represent your best opportunity to capture those returns. So let's sift through CAPS' proprietary ratings system and find the stocks most likely headed toward superstardom. Here are a handful of four-star firms approaching greatness.
Atlas Pipeline Partners (NYSE: APL)
Eagle Bulk Shipping (Nasdaq: EGLE)
Northstar Realty Finance (NYSE: NRF)
StemCells (Nasdaq: STEM)
United States Steel (NYSE: X)
Some of these names might surprise you. United States Steel, once synonymous with the aging Rust Belt, had been burnishing its reputation until the collapse in commodity prices last year. Almost great? Even familiar names can still offer some of the best opportunities. Perhaps we've just forgotten the potential they still hold. The 125,000-plus CAPS members chose these companies as less obvious sources for tomorrow's great buys. Let's see why they might merit your attention.
In the sight of greatness
With a new administration expected to lift the ban on stem cell research, companies like StemCells seek to reap the windfall that will hopefully follow. But with the rewards comes the potential for greater competition, such as Pfizer's (NYSE: PFE) announcement that it would be plunging into the lab as well. Yet StemCells is singly focused on this area, a competitive advantage that should keep it in the forefront. For example, the FDA recently approved StemCells to initiate clinical trials using its proprietary stem cell therapy to treat a fatal brain disease in children.

I'm adding tomorrow for sure. I also found this article link posted on another board and it is well worth a few minutes to read it over.

I couldn't agree more. I think STEM will survive without the ban being lifted but when Obama lifts the ban they will thrive and as the article said they should be one of the leaders.
The company holds 50 U.S. patents and over 100 foreign patents in its neural stem cell patent portfolio.
Going to be a huge winner (imo)
