Default FATBACKERS - BreakOut Plays

I have decided to start a thread that deals with breakout plays and other plays that break resistance and are ready to hit new levels in a bullish trend. I do this based completely on technical levels and I will post them with a link to the charts. I do not do short plays.

I try and post the chart before it does the break out so keep an eye on the date and time of the post so you can keep track and check the accuracy of the breakout or if there will be one at all. The whole deal is to try and share them before the breakout or bullish trend continues as it breaks resistance.

I enjoy going through these charts and may or may not have a position. These are not buy or sell recommendations but simply stocks and charts to keep an eye on in case you are looking for stuff to play.

My first breakout play will be:

AMD

AMD is showing some oversold levels but the MACD is in a nice trend upwards from the money line.

The resistance is $15.95 and the next resistance is at just over $17
AMD hit a high of $15.96 but closed at $15.84 with after market trading lower.

If we hit and hold past $15.96 for the day we will have our breakout.

ARTG is another breakout play, I have been watching this stock for quite some time now.

$2.91 is the resistance so $2.92 is the breakout. It has been toying with this level for a couple days now and is worth keeping an eye on.

These are purely technical breakouts and looking at their profile might give you some idea which way it may go.

I was just looking at Disney ( DIS ) as a stock for the watch list. It is not quite at breakout range but worth looking at. I have been watching how the %B has been trending past the .75 range and looks to go to the 1.0 range. I would look for a possible break out play as we may be in a possible trend. As I have said I try and show these before they break out. Pulling the chart back for a year we hit a high of $36 and it started to pull back. So keep an eye on the trend if it makes a recovery.

$34.89 will be the break out here. Any gap up past that should be good enough.

I can tell I'm going to love this thread. I was just having a glance at AMD. ARTG is on my watch list as well. What are the odds?

Fatbacker, what do you look for when determining if a stock is about to break out? Great thread idea, btw.

You lost me a little on DIS fatbacker. Why do you say it isn't at breakout level yet? At the time you posted the PPS was sitting right near resistance like those others. Are you referring to the MACD not crossing zero just yet? Just trying to follow along here. Thanks.

Noticed it's pulled back a little so far today looking like a doji so far. We'll what it forms at EOD.

Looks like AMD isn't quite holding.

Hey Therion, What I consider a breakout pattern or a bullish continuation pattern is where after some type of pull back in the price per share it begans to move upwards again and surpasses the last high it just came down from.

Ex: ABC stock is trading at $15 over a few days it dips down as much as $14.75 then starts to head upwards again. The breakout or continuation happens when the stock breaks the $15 mark by going to $15.01 or higher. I usually like to see a stock close above that $15 break out point before I would consider it a break out.

You can usually identify these patterns on good stock charts programs you can get over the internet. Stockcharts.com has some free ones you can use if you do not have anything at this point.

Thanks FB... I started subscribing to stockcharts.com this week. I like their 1600 pixel wide charts, they look good on my widescreen monitor, and you can get a ton of info on the screen. I'll look out for your indicators. Can you program a scan for it, or is it just picking the right stocks?
