dollar recovered from yen
The dollar rose on Tuesday as surprisingly strong US data boosted the view that US rates might rise sooner than previously expected. On the other hand, the euro came under pressure on fresh concern about the health of European banks. Sterling was down against the dollar but rose against the euro on concern about the Austrian banking sector.
The euro fell to a three month low of $1.4531. The dollar index rose to 77.022. The dollar recovered above 89.20 yen.
