UWKI- uWink, Inc- Small Cap Penny Stock- Business Software & Services
The next couple posts are a summary of the stuff already on the MM site.
The guy that built Atari and sold it then built Chucky Cheese only so he could sell it is at it again.
Nolan left Chuck E. Cheese in the early ’80s to start Catalyst Technologies, an incubator for start-up companies. His endless curiosity led him to all kinds of successes, not all of them game-related. In 1984, he founded Etak, the first navigation systems company. Anyone who drives a car equipped with a GPS can thank Nolan for the all-knowing voice telling us to “turn right now,” as he developed the original software. He has, in fact, developed and sold over 20 innovative companies.
“I love the experience of developing a business from scratch, bringing it to fruition, and then selling it—and starting all over again with another concept. I’ll be doing this for the rest of my life.”

While most start-ups fail, most start-ups by Nolan Bushnell not only go on to only succeed - but they go on to flourish.

This is part of post 9047 from I-hub, I left off the second half, I thought it was more pumping than fact.
Mr. Nolan Bushnell is impressive, his every move and word is hand crafted for the sole purpose of making uWink a Global success, as soon as it is humanly and financially feasible to accomplish. By now, most here would agree that the uWink Company Concept via his Prototype Restaurant (not the Flagship) has now been Proven to Work, and they, and we, are all now breathing that proverbial sigh of relief.
For those newer board visitors that are not fully aware of the concept, uWink is a social entertainment restaurant where guests can order their food, drinks, and interactive media via touch screens located at their table, and employees utilize their outgoing personalities while they act as runners to bring their guests food and drinks expediently. From the uWink 10QSB: "Our longer term growth strategy is to open additional company-owned and/or company-managed restaurants in new markets and to franchise our concept, focusing on MULTIPLE-UNIT area development agreements with experienced operators. We are targeting a mix of one-third company-owned restaurants and two-thirds franchised restaurants. We expect we will also seek to generate additional revenue through the sale of media equipment to franchisees."
The have clearly stated that “in addition to expansion through its franchise program, uWink plans to open new company-owned restaurants in the Southern California region in the coming months.” Their company website (uwink.com) also states: “For those interested in franchising, we are currently able to offer franchises in 33 States and territories. As we begin our franchise operations in the United States, we are also proceeding with the registration process for international franchise opportunities.”
I am confident that Nolan means to do what he has set out to do. I am excited that the UFOC is now in place in a 33 states so far (to date). I am confident that the uWink concept fits all generations and all types (their target demographic of 21 to 35 year old woman, everyone’s kids, the guys of all types and ages, the baby boomer generation, etc., etc.). I am confident the concept has been proven in a Grade ‘C’ location (an important prototype strategy on their part). I am confident that there are many developers with money that will want in on uWink.
February 20, 2007Dear Shareholder,I wanted to personally thank you for your support and give you an assessment of the progress of uWink and our first restaurant. Today, I am very proud to announce that we believe that uWink has delivered strong proof of concept for the next innovation in the restaurant industry.Since we opened the doors to our prototype restaurant in Woodland Hills, California on October 16, 2006, our monthly revenues have grown steadily from $30,000 in October to $87,000 in November to $161,000 in December to $185,000 in January '07. We expect to continue our revenue growth as we layer in additional capacity and software designed to create activities that will add revenue streams and fill the restaurant during traditionally slow times. With little promotion, we are currently serving approximately 3,000 -3,500 guests per week in Woodland Hills, and these guests are playing between 50,000 and 60,000 games per week on our terminals. Our customers' level of engagement with our entertainment offerings has far exceeded our expectations. The uWink experience - the ambience, the food, the fun, the service -is attracting new customers everyday. We are currently running one hour-plus wait times on weekends. We will be adding additional inside and outside seating in the next few weeks to meet the current and growing crowds.Just to note, all of this has been accomplished in LESS THAN FOUR MONTHS, with word of mouth being our main promotion vehicle. I'm very proud that we have been able to prove our concept, despite opening our first restaurant in a historically difficult restaurant location, andthat we have become a destination for so many. And, as with any innovative endeavor, we are working to improve things in response to customer feedback. In the next few weeks we will be making significant changes to our ordering process to give our customers more flexibility and control over when and how their orders are sent to the kitchen. We are also making improvements to the checkout process and plan to make noteworthy changes to our table, chair and terminal designs in our next location.Over the next several weeks we plan on rolling out the next phase in uWink game play, which will allow group competitions and tournament play. Stay tuned! We believe this is a very important addition to the overall uWink experience. To help build the uWink community and to better communicate the uWink experience, we will be unveiling a significant upgrade to our website. This new website is designed to be flexible enough to grow along with us, and robust enough to provide our fans, shareholders, franchisees and customers all the information, community and resources they need. Our food reviews from the press and customers have been excellent, a testament to our Executive Chef Greg Schroeppel's menu and execution.Following are quotes from some of the press food reviews: "The food is designed to be a primary draw. The globally inspired menu of uWink includes such appetizers as Thai-style chicken lettuce cups, barbecued pork sliders and hummus with olive tapanade served with fried yucca chips." - LISA JENNINGS, NATION'S RESTAURANT NEWS "Burger fanciers can enjoy a field day here, being able to make their half-pounder just about any way they like it. "Build your own" invites the alluring option. Just touch the screen and you get what you want here. Even your horoscope." - LARRY LIPSON, RESTAURANT REVIEWER LA DAILY NEWSWe plan on growing through a combination of company-owned and franchised stores. We are currently in active negotiations on a number of additional restaurant sites in the Los Angeles and greater California areas. In addition, we are in various stages of negotiations with a number of potential franchisees. While we cannot guarantee that we will be able to secure additional sites or sell franchises, we hope to have some definitive news for you in the coming weeks and months.Overall, I am extremely impressed with where we are to date. I'm proud to be part of the great team that has effectively transformed this innovative concept into a successful reality. Thank you for your support and I look forward to a prosperous future.Sincerely,Nolan Bushnell CEO uWink, Inc.

Re: UWNK is going to be somebody someday
Good reading buck, I especially like this part.
Bushnell is getting ahead of himself. If Uwink.com is successful, he says, he's taking another run at the video-game industry. Atari version 2.0.
"It's a constant source of frustration to me that the video-game industry is dominated by Japan," he says. "It started here; the U.S. should dominate. ... Nintendo and Sony can be dethroned, and they should be."
I think most people dont realize this stock is as much a tech play as it is a resteraunt play.
This is a good post from I-hub.. by Sager
The purpose of uWink:
ok with everyone panicking, wanted to put in some comments to bring the conversation back around to the concept of uwink.
What is the purpose of uWink? If you go to their website and click on "Our company" -> "About us", you will notice a section that mentions the following:
"uWink’s sophisticated and proprietary technology serves as the foundation for the uWink Bistro. Similar to how Chuck E. Cheese created a new market opportunity for Atari’s games, uWink believes that the uWink Bistro will provide an exciting new venue and market for its products."
So is the purpose to create a nationwide/worldwide fast casual dining restaurant chain? Yes. But that is only part of the purpose. Read the Above paragraph again. The reason they want to create a nationwide/worldwide profitable restaurant chain is to become a major player in the self-service industry, BUT not just one applicable to the restaurant sector. If you have followed nolan bushnell's speeches at national hotel conferences in las vegas, you know that the hotel/hospitality sector is a major one. So what are full range of these products and what is the full range of nationwide sectors they wish to apply them to? Think about it. And on the new uwink website launching shortly in its "Products" section, you will get the answer in its entirety.
Also, think about uwink in the scope of a social networking restaurant, with both a virtual and physical component. The physical component being the nationwide restaurant chain itself and the virtual component being the social networking website that will be launced with the new uwink website. The part that is crucial though is how these two components are set to work together and the implications it has for the online social networking landscape dominated by myspace, friendster.com, facebook, etc and the generation that is a part of it.
Be cautious in your analysis of uwink, because the implications made here are huge. But don't let those huge implications get in the way of the possiblity that they are possible.
When people incessantly pump this stock on this board or incessantly rant about it, make sure it's for a sound fundamental reason regarding uwink's concept.
My personal opinion based on my own research regarding the future progression of uwink is the following:
uwink will become a highly profitable nationwide restaurant chain reaching and eventually exceeding its $3.5M per year per restaurant revenue target.
uwink will become the leading nationwide social networking website by creating a physical and virtual social environment whose social networking sucess and profitability is unmatched and non-replicable by industry leaders myspace.com, friendster.com, facebook.com, etc.
uwink's physical restaurant chain will and is currently creating a customer base that goes far beyond it's 20-40 year old demographic at distinct times during the day and week.
uwink will serve the purpose for the current young, mobile generation that many bars and clubs do not fulfill and that a venue like dave&buster's was not intended for but none the less fails to deliver on. You go with a group of friends to dave&buster's to shoot pool, drink, eat, and play some games. If you have ended up in their game/bar room like many do at then end of the night, you end up split apart from your friends, walking around in circles, and $50 gone from your wallet from the games. You have not met anyone or interacted with anyone new (nor did you expect to), you have played many types of games be it pool or video games but not quite sure it felt worth the money, you leave as you came in, with your friends, with less money, and with no numbers/digits (be it the numbers of new friends/potential dates)
You will go to uwink to do the same (minus pool), but come out having interacted with your friends, made new ones (guys and girls), and looking forward to continue that interaction online and soon at the restaurant again. You will have spent money on drinks, on food, on tournament games. But it will be money well spent if you are single, in a relationship, or married. You will come away with amazingly fun social interaction with your friends and new ones. The games will have been the facilitator of this interaction not the purpose of your visit.
You will have come away from the next generation of restaurant. And whether you recognize them or not, you will soon see uwink products throughout different commercial sectors.
Stay tuned, it's gonna get interesting.

negotiation and execution of definitive agreements, the first Canadian uWink is
expected to open late winter or early spring of 2008.
"Canada is an area with tremendous potential, and is a perfect fit for uWink,"
said Nolan Bushnell, CEO of uWink. "This is the first step toward uWink's
international development plan and we look forward to further expanding our
multi-lingual capabilities as we grow internationally."
"It is both an honor and a privilege to bring uWink to Canada," said David Folk,
Managing General Partner of Jefferson Partners. "We believe the uWink concept is
a brilliant innovation, combining cutting edge concepts in casual dining and
interactive entertainment. It is perfectly suited to the Canadian market."
About Jefferson Partners:
Jefferson Partners (Jefferson Partners) is a technology oriented venture capital
firm focused on financing and building innovative world class companies.
Jefferson plans to hold its interest in uWink Canada through its newly
established affiliate organization Jefferson EquiCorp.
